Congratulations Senn graduates, and thank you for participating in our 50th reunion.
Our lives have all changed in those 50 years, as has Senn High School. I call your attention to the Reunion Memory Book, page 2, wherein Rich Hirsch gives us a wonderful overview of Senn then and now. He says that over 45% of the students were born outside the United States in 65 different countries. Many of the students arrive speaking no English.
In reading your bios it was great to find out how successful you were and are. I’ve found, as I have grown older that success and happiness have a direct correlation to one’s own self-esteem and state of mind.
Thank you for feeling good about yourselves and your Senn classmates to join in tonight’s celebration of 50 years gone -- but not forgotten.
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the reunion committee for its outstanding effort in making this reunion weekend happen. The fabulous leadership of George Willhite, the computer genius of Milt Levenberg who designed the web site, the financial expertise of Joel Wineberg, who also printed the memory book, along with contributions of the other committee members have made this reunion an act of passion and hard work. But without George’s leadership we would not be in the position of enjoying this wonderful weekend. Thank you all for letting me come along for the ride.
I ask you to raise your glasses and toast to life, to peace, and to fond memories.
